4 Cool-Girl Hair Trends To Consider This Spring/Summer 2023

2023 seems to have been the year of the bob and if you dabbled with this style, you’ll be pleased to know it isn’t going anywhere. But what other trends will be big as we get through spring and head into summer? We tapped our very own founder, Michael Kelly, to share the hair trends he predicts will be everywhere this season.

The Bob (Is Still) Back

“Bobs of all lengths are making a huge comeback for SS 23/24 at Salon HER,” says Kelly, naming French bobs, lobs and bobs that graze the jawline as the three biggest trends in this space. “We have seen a huge amount of clients requesting the chop and I can’t see it slowing down anytime soon. Our pro tip is to forget what you think you know about short hair and face shapes. Bobs are wearable for absolutely anybody and can be adapted to all face shapes.” He adds this piece of advice for those sceptical about the style: “Remember that unless you cut higher than the jawline then the face shape stays almost completely the same and your neck lengthens out.”

Scandi Blonde

Always a fan favourite here at Salon HER, the perfect Scandi blonde is our speciality and it’s a colouring technique all colourists here have mastered. Kelly says: “It’s a seamless blend of natural hair throughout the root area and Nordic blonde around the face and through the lengths. Usually this is accompanied with a Scandi-hairline technique where the first row of baby hairs around your neck and hairline are lightened to create an ultra seamless blend from root to tip.”

The 90s Long Layer

“Working with longer lengths, we are seeing a huge shift back to the sexy 90s layers with a signature bouncy blow,” says Kelly. For this trend, he uses “more face framing layering techniques and more density towards the lengths for the epitome of Cindy Crawford chic.”

Latte Brondes

Who doesn’t love a good bronde? As the weather heats up, even brunettes want to go a touch lighter and this is a trend we’ll be seeing all summer long. “We welcome creamy neutral gold depths with lots of natural texture and dimension through the interior and minimal and seamless highlights through the parting to allow for the ultimate sun-kissed feel,” explains Kelly. “Our colour masters, James and Karl, are your best go-to for this.”
